Have a Group of songs in a single file?

Here's an answer I gave to a question in the Presonus Forums. Say you have a large stereo file that contains 10 or more songs. This could be a recording from a prefessional, portable recording device, an iPad or even an audio track from a video shot with a digital camera. Either way, you're looking to take this recording and pull out the full songs to play in your MP3 player or iTunes. Here's one of the best ways to do this.

1. From the browser, drag and drop your track into...

Wow, has it reall been that long since posting a blog? Well, I'm feeling much better these days and decided to take on a subject and to express my viewpoint.

Recently, a post in the Presonus Studio One forums asked about what the user target was and where was Presonus actually marketing to. I decided to make my reply the focus of this blog entry and hope for some opinions.......

I personally think the whole "User Target" discussion is a bit silly. Anyone can use i...

My Personal Micing Techniques....

Posted by Johnny Geib on May 2, 2012 at 12:55 AM Comments comments (10)

This blog was inspired by a member question where he is having trouble with vocal quality in an untreated apartment. I thought this would be good to share with you all......

Why do my vocal recordings sound so bad?

Vocals are my specialty, I like to think. As I've stated, my voice loss has caused me to focus more on capture and production now. I love building vocal arrangements and even creating...

I am going to be starting a new page here at HST. It's going to be dedicated to users willing to write up their own tips or methods for recording in their homes. Weather it be videos, write-up, stills or what ever, it doesn't matter. It doesn't even have to be in Studio One. It can be using any DAW of your choice.

Micing techniques, room setups, booth designs, live gig experienced.... Anything that you feel would help others here at HST. Feel free to shoot me a quick message...

Well, we're building up a great little library of Livestream sessions. Now, with Studio One 2.0.5 in full swing, the new macro feature is getting alot of positive press. With the ability to creat a customized control panel as well as just about any kind of break-away transport, It's unreal what you can do now. Here's a few new videos by my friend JP that will explain much of what you need to create these.

Best Experience yet!

As many of you know, I just did my first ever live broadcast for Home Studio Trainer. I have to say that I was floored by response and flattered by the presense of 3 of Presonus' top guys. Not to mention the fact they bailed me out of a very humbling moment where I was trying to create an example for a user and go totally lost......lol

But overall many user questions were answered, I was able to show more of the great features in Studio One 2.0 and more than anything begin a...

Now, if you're a regular over at the Presonus forums, you will see everything from "Fanboy rants" to "Protools is still better" declarations. Either way you look at it, there's a ton of excitement for this new update and the servers were jammed the day of release.

I, myself, am a huge fanboy and have use Studio One exclusively for over a year now. I have done countless videos and held several private workshops on how Studio One can make producing music easier th...

The Audiobox 22 VSL.........

Ok, had a client bring me one to hook up to their computer and show him howto work it. Needless to say I was so impressed with it I went out and boughtone. I will be doing a video review and tutorial very shortly but I must say,Presonus really nailed the USB market.

I have done a comparison (thanx Jeff) with 2 other USB interfaces currently on the market. The Steinberg CI2 and the M-Audio Fastrack. All "home studio" style interfaces and all 3 are USB 2 boxes. The pres onthe...

Lost my one chance to make money on my videos....

Posted by Johnny Geib on August 31, 2011 at 9:30 PM Comments comments (2)

I have been getting a ton of questions on what transpired with the video company that I was going to do Studio One videos for. As you know, the first project fell through due to the time it took to get the quality of the video I was providing, up to what they needed. It never happened.

To my surprise they called me back for another try and I was going to take another whack at it and began test shots and giving them examples. It was beginning to look pretty good but then I di...
